Pat hands are three times as common as in 2-7 (no straights or flushes spoiling them) — at 6-max, someone behind you holds a pat 8 or better about one deal in nine.

*four distinct ranks 7 or lower — a one-card draw at a 7.

Should you stand pat?

Second draw is done: you’re in position and everyone drawing missed. If you stand pat, these are the exact odds you get outdrawn on the final draw. Heads Up: one opponent on the listed draw, outs over 43 unseen cards. Vs. 2 Opponents: both opponents hold the listed draw type and each catches one card — the odds at least one gets there.

The wheel draw A-2-3-4 is the most dangerous draw at every row — with no straight to fear, 5s, 6s, 7s and 8s are all clean catches, so it outdraws a pat 8-5 a full 32.6% of the time heads-up and 59.5% when two of them are drawing at you. Against the made-hand draws the zeros stack up fast: a pat 6-4-3-2-A is unbeatable by the 7-4 and 6-4 draws even two-handed, and only the four 5s can crack it at all.

Winning catches are ranks; counts already account for every card you and the drawing hands block. Chops (identical hands) are not counted as outdraws. Exact enumeration — no simulation noise.

Every starting shape, ranked

All 154 two-, three-, and four-card classes (X = nine or higher), 10,000 showdowns each: you draw to the shape, both sides finish three draws, heads-up versus a random hand.

With no straight danger, the rankings are pure smoothness: A235X (73.8%) and A234X (73.2%) sit within noise of each other at the top, and the bottom is just the roughest high keeps — 78XXX at 31.2%. Compare 2-7, where four baby cards can be a trap: here 2345X is simply the fourth-best hand in the game. Multiway, smoothness matters even more: 6-handed, A234X takes over the top spot and still wins a majority of showdowns (52.8%) against five opponents — more than triple the 16.7% baseline — while rough keeps like 678XX collapse to 2.7%.

Method: hero’s first draw discards exactly the X cards; later draws follow the frozen rollout heuristic on both sides, no betting, ties split. ±0.5pt noise per figure. Generated by the engine that trained the app’s blueprints.
